Inspiration comes from my immediate environment. England's Westcountry landscape and coastline, with it's rugged beauty and moods, provides endless opportunities.
As a Fine Artist I work in torn paper collage, oils and pastels. However, the process and challenge of collage is what I find most enjoyable.
I am often asked about the process I use. The colour pallet is made up from quality colour magazines and I apply torn pieces of different sizes, depending upon the intended effect, onto a board with brush and glue. This technique inevitably incorporates an element of photomontage as well as traditional collage.
My original collages are finished with two coats of matt UV protecting varnish, mounted with high quality 'white core' mount board and framed in the finest Ash frames.
They are then glazed with Tru-Vue conservation glass. Tru-Vue conservation glass filters out 99% of all harmful UV light, which fades the colour from fabrics and pictures, and can also feature 'reflection control' where this is important. Visit the Tru-Vue site for more information. Tru-Vue
Although my main interest is collage, I also have an enduring interest in Photography. I tend to photograph things that 'catch my eye' - objects, scenes and details that fascinate me. I also work from my photographs to create my original collages.
